Gustav Klimt and His Muse
When one thinks of Attersee, Austria’s most famous artist, Gustav Klimt, immediately comes to mind. Between 1900 and 1916 the painter often spent his summers in Attersee. He finished over 50 landscape paintings, most of which were painted in Attersee. Today a theme trail takes you in search of the this art-nouveau painter’s favourite spots.
Attersee – Boat Trips
Take a boat trip across the entire Attersee lake in either the local ferry or one of the two smaller local boats. In summer you could go on one of many weekly theme rides: pirate ship rides, disco boat rides or a soothing live-music trips.
Versatile Attersee
Attersee offers sport enthusiasts lots of variety: sailing, surfing, diving, waterskiing and fishing. On this Salzkammergut lake motorboats are allowed.
In Seewalchen the High-Wire Climbing Park attracts visitors looking for excitement! Tours are offered all through the year, whereby advanced booking is required. For equestrians the area surrounding the Attersee lake is a true paradise! 130 kilometres of well-signposted riding trails, horse resting points and stables ensure an amazing time in the saddle. Accompanied riding groups for one or more days are organised for those of you who don’t wish to venture into the great outdoors on there own!
A number of golf courses offer varied playing conditions! Cyclists, tennis players and mountain bikers will all find what they are looking for!
Musical Attersee
From the 16th July to the 29th August 2007 you can enjoy the annual palace concerts in the Palace Chambers on Lake Attersee, The performances concentrate on music from Mozart.
